5th October 2025

Newsletter for Sunday 5th October 2025

The church looked amazing this morning. Our thanks to those from the Church and the village who gave their time to decorate it on Friday.

The Junior Church led our Harvest Festival service assisted by several puppets and other visitors.

The theme of the service was ‘Sowing seeds of friendship and faith’.

The readings were Matthew 13 verses 1 to 9 (the Parable of the Sower) and Galatians 5 verses 22 to 26 (the Fruits of the Spirit).  The puppets helped us in thinking of ways that we can sow seeds by sharing a smile or helping to pick up dropped shopping and we were encouraged to remember the fruits of the Spirit (Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Humility and Self Control).

We added our own prayers on fruit shaped paper to a prayer tree which will still be there next Sunday.  Thank you to all those who took part in what was a typically relaxed Marsh Green service!

We had the usual auction after the service for Christian Aid.  These days many of our Harvest gifts are passed on to the Foodbank but, to date, we have received almost £100 in cash, with more to come.

Next Sunday the service will be led by the Revd. David Skitt.

Things happening this week:

* The second session of the course on Prayer is tomorrow at 7.30 pm

* The Elders will meet on Tuesday at 7.30 pm

* On Friday we shall be meeting for Soup and Silence at the church.  This is an experiment in meditative prayer.  12.20 pm arrival for a 12.30 pm start.  Guided segments of silent prayer followed by soup, bread, and cheese lunch.  All welcome

Apple Pressing Event Saturday 4th October

Thank you to everyone who helped with the Apple Pressing Event.  It was a very successful event despite the wind, and it was good to be able to make flexible use of our premises which we can do at weekends. Once our renovation project is complete, we will be able to use the premises more fully and the donations from yesterday have been added to the renovation fund.  We made nearly £300 in cash and there is more to add to that total.

Prayer Call for the week from 5th October

We pray for the Jewish community who are living in fear following the attack in Manchester.

We pray that the hostages in Gaza will be released soon and that some sort of peace can be established.

The other churches in the Pastorate will be praying for us this week.
